Perfect Matches My artwork investigates the concept of contact. The basis of my art work is to explore relationships between two individuals or an individual’s response to her environment. I have learned that through the process of human development, dependency on each other has a huge impact on the way each person perceives life and their relationship to it. Ultimately, the root of emotion is contact. There is a common belief that a human cannot live by itself, so I decided to take my artwork onto two different paths. The first being the power of human touch, physical contact, and communication between two individuals. Through this, my art reflects intensity, yet fragility. The second path I take is the individual’s contact with her surroundings, independent of another human. Through this, I display inner stability and the intentional independence. The bulk of contact derives from three concepts: touch, communication, and connection. This is the message I portray through my artwork.

The combination of the two photographs were structured to represent the moments in which each partner is at power or at balance. The photographs were printed with the intention of having a washed out old film look. By stimulating the lighting to warmer tones I was able to intensify the chemistry between both individuals. This displays the aspects of contact that embulk touch as signals of nurturance, attraction, dependence, aggression, and guidance.
