I allow my message to dictate my media. When the imagery is best supported two-dimensionally, I tend to paint, using bold strokes, at both large and small scale. I concentrate on texture, with extreme color and value contrasts. Most of my two-dimensional pieces have been acrylic paint and collage. When the imagery lends itself to three-dimensions, I use clay, metal, epoxy, and plaster, amongst other media. I do not meticulously plan out my projects, but rather respond to the media as it develops. My artistic voice is revealed as I explore different media without extensive practice or recitation. In the end, my desire is to have the viewer come into contact not only with my works, but also with their own sense of identity and relationship to the world.
